About

Hire High School Athletes (HHSA), a leading nonprofit dedicated to bridging the gap between athletic leadership and career professional development, today announced the launch of the inaugural Team Captains of the Year Awards.

This digital-first initiative celebrates Southern California high school team captains who demonstrate exceptional leadership, discipline, and emotional intelligence—and various traits within the “Athlete DNA” that make them the "Blue Chip" recruits of the future workforce.

What makes our awards different?

Unlike traditional sports awards that focus on points scored or games won, this program honors the "intangibles." Categories include The Resilience Award, The Community Impact Captain, and The Workplace-Ready Leader.

How it works

The awards will take place entirely across Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, and YouTube allowing students, coaches, and parents to participate in real-time. Nominations are open to the public, with winners announced during a live digital broadcast in June.

The Team Captain Lunch $100

The Team Captain Lunch: Your $100 gift will fund a celebration lunch for four team captains selected in your local school district county.

The Prize Fund $25

OUR FEATURED CAMPAIGN

Today, as we reflect on the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., we're launching a challenge. Dr. King spoke of the “fierce urgency of now.” For 300 H.S. Athletes in your local area, “now” is the time to bridge the gap between their talent on the field or court of play and their dream career. Our Workshop Goal is to Secure 300 “Dream Career Path” Summer Jobs and Internships that align with their long-term dream career goals.
